District has changed the time on the filter override from 20 minutes to 5 in an effort to keep students safer. Please provide feedback as we pilot this.
Yesterday I sat in a district meeting and got my hands on the new web based version of PowerGrade. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it an 8. It has a significantly different look and feel which means a massive training effort will be occuring this fall. One feature I know many will appreciate is the ability to do your grades in the comfort of your own home. Naturally as with any software changes there are things that are changed for the better and some that aren't but we'll just roll with the punches as best we can. Look for an opportunity to preview it in the near future.
If you logged on to computer on February 20th, you probably noticed that Cougarnet looks a little different. Just an attempt to organize and streamline things a little. The computer lab calendar has a new look and the we are working on the web site as well. Look for more changes to come.
As of Tuesday, February 17th you will no longer need to login with cth in front of your user name. You will simply need to use your first class user name and your computer password. This applies to staff only but will occur for students next school year.
Just a heads up that we will soon be changing teacher logins for the computer in an attempt to use a single sign-on within the district. The only thing that should change is that you will no longer need the cth in front of your name. I'll let you know as we move closer to the date of implementation.
Qwest Foundation offers Teachers and Technology Grants Offer $200,000 for Classroom Tech Tools
Time to start thinking about your technology needs/wishes for next year because before you know it budgets will be due. As you look at your curriculum and look at projected growth please ponder the implications that technology can and does have. Be sure to stop by and lets have a conversation as we look to next year.
Ever want to have your students view something on YouTube and it's blocked? Now you have the power to access it. We are the first in the district to gain staff access to the override feature on the district filter. Directions found on Technology Handouts link. Woohoo!
